John Brookes was presented with the CAPO (Capital Arts Patrons Organisation) Belco Inclusion Award last Thursday - this comes with a Grant and a guaranteed solo exhibition in 2023 at the Gallery.
John Brookes said: "If you're wondering why I'm grinning like a lunatic, I was making sure I got my money's worth out of my new veneers.
This Award will go a long way towards making Canberry Communications and sustainable initiative and develop its capacity of exploring the boundaries of disability in arts."
John Brookes will use the Grant towards a satirical exhibition which will challenge media disability portrayals, matching modern research with Propaganda poster designs used in 1930s to 1950s.
