The Pictures of You exhibition may have ended on 5th Feb, but it lives on! Full size display is on show at the Westfield Belconnen shopping centre for the foreseeable future... Trip to Belco Art Gallery today to check on my new piece, 'From the Earth Returned' , part of the new 'Earth Unframed' exhibition... Just submitted a grant bid for a solo exhibition at a venue tbc - so watch this space! John Brookes was presented with the CAPO (Capital Arts Patrons Organisation) Belco Inclusion Award last Thursday - this comes with a Grant and a guaranteed solo exhibition in 2023 at the Gallery. John Brookes said: "If you're wondering why I'm grinning like a lunatic, I was making sure I got my money's worth out of my new veneers. This Award will go a long way towards making Canberry Communications and sustainable initiative and develop its capacity of exploring the boundaries of disability in arts." John Brookes will use the Grant towards a satirical exhibition which will challenge media disability portrayals, matching modern research with Propaganda poster designs used in 1930s to 1950s. I really thank you for raising funds for a cause to close to many people's heart.
